Introducing Moon Garden: A Night-time Pollinator Kit for Children

We’re thrilled to announce the launch of Moon Garden, our brand-new children’s growing kit designed to attract moths and other night-time pollinators, developed in partnership with the Royal Entomological Society (registered charity 213620).

As you know, Louise – Gardening for Kids’ founder and chief grower – is full of ideas for new educational products, so when the Royal Entomological Society approached us to see if we could come up with something to support night-time pollinators, Louise leapt at the chance. It was lovely to meet the RES representatives at the Spring Fair this year and really get a sense of what we could do together. So we got to work!

Why Night-Time Pollinators Need Our Help

The educational aspect of this kit was clear – we hear a lot about bees and butterflies, and children are enthusiastic about these engaging creatures. But moths and other nocturnal pollinators are just as vital – and some of their numbers are in decline across the UK. When the sun goes down, a whole hidden world of pollinators wakes up, and most of us never see it. We hope this kit will start to change that. By growing the right plants, even a small garden or windowsill can become a lifeline for these overlooked insects.

No Green Fingers Needed

We know that lots of parents feel daunted by gardening. We hear “I can’t even keep grass alive!” more than you’d think. That’s exactly why our kits are designed to be simple, reliable and genuinely enjoyable for children and grown-ups to grow together.
