What to plant in March or April
Early spring is prime planting time, most seeds can be sown at this time of year. It's not too late to sow tomatoes and peppers if you have not already done so. In warmer parts of the UK March is time to sow carrots, potatoes, peas and onions outdoors. Seeds such as green vegetables and annual flowers can be sown inside in small pots to be planted outside later in May. Sweet Peas can be sown early for lovely fragrant flowers in the summer.
April is warmer and the perfect time to sow crops like pumpkins, courgettes, sunflowers and cucumbers indoors. Once the soil has warmed up, green vegetables like broccoli can be sown direct in the ground.
